Many of us know from personal experience how the love of the Lord can be felt through the power of music. The real heart of God is being expressed by artists in more relevant ways than ever before and music can take words to places where words alone cannot go.

We can be edified, encouraged and enlightened by Christian music in ways even the secular world can appreciate. Christian artists are breaking new ground, even reaching mega-hit status on secular radio in the States. Christian music has a 13% share of the industry market and is one of the fastest growing forms of music. This kind of growth is going to impact a lot of lives, and will also bring in a lot of searchers.

Perhaps our own local Christian station, Shine FM, could be simulcast from here some day.

Some secular pop music also points to the heart of God, even if it was not intentionally written that way. This music will help bridge the gap and create a new paradigm around certain songs. Some so called “ambient music” can also describe the peaceful and calming reassurance of an all-powerful, yet mystical and loving God. Certainly most Hymns and much classical music has been inspired by God and can be used to touch the hearts of listeners. Maybe we can even do something with chants. Then again, maybe not so much.

Different types of music will happen at different times. For instance, Christian radio and contemporary Christian selections could be played in the morning, with more mellow music in the afternoon, moving upbeat later on. At times DVD's of Christian recording artists could be shown on a roll down screen.

A thought is to have live Saturday afternoon “jam sessions”, and perhaps praise and worship socials with music from various local Church bands and worship leaders.

Hearts will be opened and gospel music stereotypes will be blown away by the power of the Lord moving through His music.
